How I help
Grief & loss
Grief has no timetable. Whether your loss is recent or happened long ago, counselling offers a gentle space to remember, feel and begin to find your way again.
You might notice
- Deep sadness, guilt or anger
- Feeling stuck or unable to move on
- Struggling with everyday life
- Feeling you have to be strong for others
- Loss of a relationship, health or home
- Grief that resurfaces unexpectedly
How therapy can help
There is no right way to grieve. I offer a calm, confidential space where you can talk about the person or the loss, and about how life has changed.
Many people find that sharing their grief with someone outside their circle helps them carry it differently.
Questions
Common questions
What happens in the first session?
We talk about what brings you here, your background and what you would like to change. I explain how confidentiality works, and together we agree on goals and how often to meet.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on what you are working on. Some people come for a short number of sessions for one issue; others prefer longer-term work. We review progress together regularly.
What is EMDR?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a well-researched therapy that helps the brain process traumatic or distressing memories so they feel less overwhelming. It is recommended in NICE guidelines for PTSD.
