How I help
Anxiety & panic
When worry takes over, it can affect your sleep, your body, your work and your relationships. Therapy can help you understand your anxiety and feel calmer and more in control.
You might notice
- Constant worry or racing thoughts
- Panic attacks or a pounding heart
- Feeling tense, restless or on edge
- Avoiding places or situations
- Trouble sleeping or switching off
- Expecting the worst to happen
How therapy can help
Together we look at what your anxiety is trying to tell you, where it comes from and what keeps it going. You set the pace, and nothing is forced.
Where anxiety is linked to a distressing experience, EMDR can also help reduce how strongly your body and mind react.
Questions
Common questions
What happens in the first session?
We talk about what brings you here, your background and what you would like to change. I explain how confidentiality works, and together we agree on goals and how often to meet.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on what you are working on. Some people come for a short number of sessions for one issue; others prefer longer-term work. We review progress together regularly.
What is EMDR?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a well-researched therapy that helps the brain process traumatic or distressing memories so they feel less overwhelming. It is recommended in NICE guidelines for PTSD.
