How I help
Depression & low mood
Depression can make everything feel heavy, flat or pointless. Counselling gives you a space to be heard, make sense of how you feel and find a way forward.
You might notice
- Feeling low, empty or tearful most days
- Losing interest in things you used to enjoy
- Sleeping too much or too little
- Feeling tired, slow or unmotivated
- Harsh thoughts about yourself
- Pulling away from friends and family
How therapy can help
In person-centred therapy we don’t follow a script. You bring what feels important, and I listen without judgement, helping you notice patterns and feelings that may have been hard to put into words.
Over time, many people find they understand themselves better, feel less alone with what they carry and start to reconnect with the things and people that matter to them.
Questions
Common questions
What happens in the first session?
We talk about what brings you here, your background and what you would like to change. I explain how confidentiality works, and together we agree on goals and how often to meet.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on what you are working on. Some people come for a short number of sessions for one issue; others prefer longer-term work. We review progress together regularly.
What is EMDR?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a well-researched therapy that helps the brain process traumatic or distressing memories so they feel less overwhelming. It is recommended in NICE guidelines for PTSD.
